CelcomDigi announcement: 26 October 2026. Editorial review: 27 October 2026.

CelcomDigi reports that 26 finalist teams in AI Muda@NADI Hackathon 2026 presented AI solutions for plantation and commodity-sector challenges. The company says the winning team, INNOVIQ from Kolej Vokasional Perdagangan Johor Bahru, developed TerraScan, a smart-agriculture application combining features such as soil analysis and crop recommendations. Let the problem shape the brief

AIO’s takeaway is to begin with a specific decision or recurring task. A business should identify who needs help, what information is available and what a useful result would look like before choosing a tool.

For example, an illustrative food producer might want a clearer way to organise incoming supplier information. The first question is what must be checked and by whom. Whether AI is appropriate follows from that assessment.

A prototype is a learning step

A demonstration can help a team test an idea. Before operational use, check the source information, error cases, staff review requirements and maintenance responsibilities. A prototype’s feature list is not evidence that it will perform reliably with different users or data.

In higher-impact situations, obtain the appropriate domain review before relying on recommendations. Keep people responsible for decisions and provide a way to stop or correct the process.

Build skills through a manageable trial

AIO suggests a limited pilot with representative examples, clear boundaries and agreed measures. Compare quality, staff effort and errors with the existing process. Use the results to decide whether to improve, expand or stop.

The practical SME opportunity is the approach: connect learning to a real problem and verify what improves. The hackathon announcement is not an open business procurement or grant invitation.
